Power in the Pause…

“The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.” – Luke 23:55-56

In the Saturday before Easter Sunday we pause…we wait…

Every year we focus on what HAPPENED. But what about what DIDN’T happen? There were hours upon hours of seemingly NOTHING between Jesus’ crucifixion and rising. Dead space. Silence. Mourning. Questions. Confusion.

So many of us despise these moments in our journey. Where we don’t see God moving. We feel pain, but we haven’t seen the victory and freedom yet. We start to think it’s our fault. We must have misheard something, done something wrong.

And yet, even amidst the greatest miracle that has ever been performed, there it is…. silence. A pause. Literally a dead stop.

I laugh to think of God winking at us and saying, “….wait for it….” at the same time He wept with the 12 disciples.

It wasn’t a mistake. Jesus didn’t show up late. And God didn’t forget He was in the middle of a miracle. He was very intentional about His three days. This way, there was no denying Jesus had died. This way, His followers would still exercise their faith and obedience by observing the Sabbath. This way, God could give His followers a gift of time to rest and process. This way, His timing aligned with His prophecy.

No coincidences or mistakes.

So whatever waiting or training period you are going through, remember the pause is part of the process. It’s intentional for your good and His glory! He doesn’t need to move mountains today, if He’s already lined up the best outcome for the future.
