Quick fixes, short term solutions, easy answers – that’s what we usually want most. We can be so focused on what we think is best, that we fail to stop and ask God, “What do YOU want?” or even “What would be best for me?”
What happens when God does not provide the fast fix? Do you pout? Yell at Him? Start to believe He doesn’t care? I’ve thrown quite a few hissy fits, especially when I didn’t get what I wanted, or I didn’t get what I thought He promised me.
Each time I come to this place of massive disappointment, I have to pause and adjust my perspective. The more I whine and complain, the less open I become to actually HEARING from Him about the truth of my circumstances and the wisdom I need to learn.
“The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.” – John 10:3-4
